I was child no. 5 of my parents and then about three years old. I had not weaned by then. Mom had to be in hospital for the delivery of my younger brother. Although I had been having solids too, for comfort and at sleep time the aunt of my father (who was in her early forties) would nurse me several times. She used to take betels most of the time and always smelt of its odor. On another occasion when my Mom was sick, my cousin brother's wife, who was around 18-19, nursed me along with her few month's old baby - my niece. Later on, when I grew up, she would some time tease me by asking to nurse as she had milk for the several children who were regularly spaced. I was also cross-nursed by my Mom's slder sister on occasions when we went to her place. Uzra. I vivdly recollect cross-nursed by at least three women. I would do it and I would prefer someone to do it for me rather than give my baby a bottle. All 4 of my babies have preferred my right breast. I think my left nipple is a bit wonky. I wanted to scream, “Take the baby with you!”.
