Anniversary Dinner

I cooked dinner for my parents Sunday in celebration of their 34th anniversary. Thought I would share some pics with my spankin’ new digital camera. Yes, I’m the last mom in America to buy a digital camera. LOL!

For starters, Vegetable Samosas (I cheated and bought these premade at Whole Foods. They’re a TON of work to make from scratch. And the picture was too blurry so I’m not posting it here.) and Poddadoms.

I did fry these up myself. They were a huge hit. Served them with tomato chutney, mango chutney and cucumber raita with fresh cilantro (right).

For the main course: Gosht Pasanda (lamb cooked in a spiced yogurt mixture) with fresh cilantro. I got the lamb from Whole Foods and it was sooooo good.

On the side there was Saffron Basmati Rice and homemade Naan bread.

For dessert, coconut rice custard (pic didn’t turn out) with Chai tea.

Then we enjoyed live entertainment. :) My 4 year old daughter dressed up in a dress she bought from an Indian woman at a yard sale and my 9 year old couldn’t help dancing with her.
