Please Answer This Blogging Survey

April 18, 2008 | Leave a Comment

I promised a couple of weeks ago that I was going to release an ebook on blogging - just for the natural mom.

Then I kind of forgot about it! Oops! Sorry about that.

But first, I put together a quickie survey to gather your questions about blogging. Go here to fill out the survey please! Pretty please!

If there’s anything else you want to say or ask about blogging, whether for personal or for business, ask it here in the comments. Thanks :-)

Where I Am When I’m Not Here

April 8, 2008 | Leave a Comment

720380_working_at_laptop.jpgYou know, I’m pretty much a blogging fool these days.

I personally own 4 blogs (and a couple other websites built on blog software but that doesn’t count). There’s my business blog, this one (which has two guest authors), BecauseMomSaidSo, a community blog with several blogging moms who have something to say, and NaturallyWahms, another community blog of crunchy minded business mamas.

And I also blog over at the Mom Masterminds blog since I’m a “Special Advisor” over there (boy do I have them fooled!). And soon I’ll be blogging at the Moms Talk Network blog.

And in case you’re hanging on to my every word and want to know where I’m blogging every minute of the day interested in some of these topics, I decided to start posting once a week about my other goings on.

So, look for this post once a week so you can see the other places I get to be all opinionated and published at. :-)

Are You Reading These Reviews?

March 28, 2008 | Leave a Comment

Do you ever read the reviews on the Natural Mom Product Reviews site?

We’ve gotten some really great reviews lately. Thanks to those of you who submitted well written reviews! (And the Paypal cash was nice, no?) ;)

It helps to get someone else’s opinion before you spend your hard earned money on stuff. Go read some of these:

If you’re a mom in business you can send your products to me and I will review them personally. Contact me at carrie at naturalmomstalkradio dot com if you’re interested.

Cold Hard Cash for Natural Kid Product Reviews

March 20, 2008 | Leave a Comment

Happy first day of Spring :)

I have a favor to ask you. Would you be willing to write a review of one of your favorite (or not favorite!) natural kid products in exchange for $5 cash in your Paypal account?

Go here: Submit natural product reviews501498_money_stack.jpg

I’ve paid out dozens of moms for their honest thoughts on all kinds of products including:

* Homeschool supplies
* Natural health products
* Toys
* Cookbooks
* Skin care and baby care

and a lot more. Right now I’m really looking for reviews for products for your kids. All you have to do is fill out the form here: submit natural product reviews for cash

Do take a moment to read the terms. I’m not looking for you to write a thesis or anything, but many of the reviews are rejected because they were either copied from another website
(not nice!) or way too short.

Thanks so much!

This Is Your Blog On Drugs, Or Why I Haven’t Been Around Lately

March 7, 2008 | 5 Comments

Thursday I had surgery on my foot, a bunionectomy to be specific. The days up to the surgery I was running around tying up loose ends, doing all the laundry and some shopping so that I could take the 3 days in bed off. (Doctor’s orders - poor me huh!)

not my feet - but I do wish I had taken a before shot!

I had big plans for catching up on some internet marketing reading, blogging and content management.

Laugh!

The Doc has me on some extra special Motrin and Percocet, neither of which I have ever taken. I don’t like drugs. These are making me kind of sick and light headed, but the pain in my foot gets bad if I don’t take them, and I like sleeping rather than writhing around in pain.

I finally felt “with it” enough to post this, but my other correspondence has been a little scary so I’ve been staying off the net except to listen to some audio. I sent this email to a friend yesterday.

yes maa’m I’m not feeling a thang rignt now! doc says I can’t get up
unti Monday except for potty braks. Staying away from tiwwter, no
tellin what I would say. I cn’t even espell right now LOL

Can you decipher that? LOL! I had to communicate with a couple of VAs and jokingly told them not to invoice me because I would probably double pay them. :)

Well that’s where I’ve been. Will be back in a few days, drug free and with much to talk about.

Have a great weekend!

FF: When Frugal Isn’t Best

February 29, 2008 | 5 Comments

Chele from Moms Love Shopping asked me to come back on her show to talk about what I see as a negative side of the CVS shopping “system”. As I said on the show, it was with much caution that I wrote about this. If you haven’t read it yet, go read my post on CVS and the natural mom.

One of the points that I made on the show is that we vote with our dollars. We make a statement with our purchases. And our non purchases. When we buy lots of single use products that pollute our environment and our bodies, we’re telling manufacturers to create more of these cheap disposable goods with unhealthy ingredients. We’re telling them that cost is the most important consideration for us. (When it should only be one consideration.)

We’re also getting caught up in the culture of spending, the culture of consumption. That’s a bad habit that leads to more of the same.

On the other hand, when we buy quality products that are built to last, that are reusable and not wrapped in multiple layers of plastic, we are also sending a message. To both the marketers of these products and our children.

There are better ways to be frugal in my opinion. We can make our own natural skin care products, we can use cloth menstrual pads or other alternatives. We can use cloth diapers. We can clean with natural home cleaning products that we make ourselves. And there are a million other ways to save money.

We can also buy products that last. For example, buying toys from family owned companies like Heirloom Wooden Toys so that our kids can pass these along to their own children.

Some other great related blog posts about when frugal isn’t best:

So what do you think? When is the frugal choice not the best choice?

Tell Me Thursday

February 21, 2008 | 4 Comments

This picture was snapped by my nephew when we were visiting them over a year ago. This is my youngest but she’s changed so much since this pic!

For one, she got hair.

Secondly she’s talking, walking, going potty… she “a big gurl”.

Anyway, in the picture she is trying to catch Psycho Kitty. She was all over that poor cat the whole time. Kitty beware!
