Unfortunately I have the same issues.

Being a Christian unschooling mom seems to make me out to be a sort of oxymoron, lol. I don't tend to fit in with Christian homeschoolers and though I have an easier time (at least I'm accepted, lol) with unschoolers, I've made very few friends in that circle. Same with LLL.

Sometimes, I feel that I'm just too different having practiced EC, cloth diapering, non-vaxing, the unschooling thing, I'm still breastfeeding my 18month old and have no plans to wean her and there's just so much more.

I use essential oils for first aid so when someone gets a headache, we take out the peppermint oil.

I have made friends with some of the more New Age types but my closest friends are definitely not on the same page as me. Two of them don't even have children. They just accept me with all my differences. I think what has helped me to not feel so lonely is to have all these different people in my circle who I can go to about each facet of my life. I go to one of the few people I know who practice EC about which training pants may be best for my toddler. I talk to my hubby's granny who nursed all 5 of her children till they were 2 years old or a friend who did it till her dd was 5 and another whose dd was 3 and still nursing when I get negative comments about my nursing my 18 month old. So I suppose, I get what I need from different sources. I've yet to find a friend who is into everything I do but I've found that all of my friends- even if they think I'm strange- accept me.

It's funny but I have found likeminded mams in the most unusual places. I thought I would find them in LLL meets or sling meets but generally have not made major friendships there as such. I think I need to have more than just philosophies in common. I have made more friends at mum & baby yoga and also met a few interesting mams recently at a art gallery tour for new mothers. When it comes to meeting new mothers I think unfortunately you will meet many that will not be long term friends however you finally will get to meet some that will be keepers! HTH
