If you’re a homeschooling veteran, you could meet the new year with either excitement or a sense of dread.

How can you make sure that homeschooling keeps on meeting your child’s needs and brings you joy too?

Maybe you need to make some changes in how you do things.

It’s easy to get stuck in a rut, and your children will feed off of your emotions. If you’re bored and frustrated, they will be too.

What can you do about this situation? Any suggestions?

What will you do differently this year with your homeschoolers?

We make sure and leave plenty of time for unscheduled breaks. That way, if we get bored, frustrated, or just plain tired, we can just not have “school” for that day. I think kids can learn from almost anything, so we will leave the house and have a real world adventure. I also like to have plenty of things that my kids can do on their own, without direct supervision, so that if I am stressed or having a blah day, their learning doesn’t suffer. Movie days or reading days are great, too. In the end, though, I just try not to worry too much. They are still learning more than they would at public school :)

Got something to say?
