Living On Less Than $1,000 a Month
October 2, 2007
This week on the Moms Money show I interviewed Tawra Kellam. She is a mom and the author of many books on frugal living. Her newest soon to be released book is the story of her Mother, who raised two daughters on less than $1,000 a month.
I read this book and got tons and tons of ideas to apply to my own life. No matter what your financial situation, frugality is a good lifestyle to pursue. It doesn’t have to be uncomfortable, it can be fun.
For one, living frugally is almost always better for the environment. It’s also a great way to funnel the cash into what makes you happy. Instead of slaving away for credit card companies, frugality allows you to live within your means and travel, for instance. Or buying your dream home like Tawra did (and then paying it off!). Or working two hours a day instead of 10. In other words, having a life.
Go have a listen to Tawra’s interview at Moms Money and pick up a copy of her newest book when it’s released.

That’s amazing that she made it on less than $1000 a month. Frugal living is a constant struggle for us, but we’re going to try to live on half our income next year. Now I’m off to listen to the interview.
I’m all for not living above ones means. If life can still be fun living frugally then I say why not? lol I listened to the interview and it was very interesting.
