I was pretty stoked to see this week’s ALDI specials. The last time they stocked grass fed beef, the store was sold out by the time I got there. And indeed this time when I hit the store, the shelves were clean… until I asked an employee. He promptly headed to the back and brought me 12 pounds. Whee!
At $4.49 a pound, it’s at least $1.50 a pound less than I can get it anywhere else.
- 28 oz cans of organic diced tomatoes @ $1.49. Be still my heart! (Anyone want to come over for chili tonight?)
- organic butter!
- cage free chicken breasts
- organic spring mix
- organic chicken broth (I always make homemade broth whenever I have bones, but like to keep a few boxes on hand for emergencies.)
- organic banana popsicles
- organic apples
And I got the usual round-up of healthy stuff that’s part of the typical ALDI selection: kefir, dried beans, etc.
If you are a newsletter subscriber (you’re not!? what are you waiting for? See box at the top right hand side of every page) you already got it, but if not – I have a free healthy ALDI menu you can download right here. No obligation or opt-in required. Just click on the link to download the .pdf file.
There was a ton more organic stuff there, but most of it was rather package-y and boxy. I generally eschew such.
When the cashier commented on what I was buying, I told her that I always made a point of stocking up when ALDI offered these organic selections. Her next words:
“Oh, they’re going to start stocking a whole lot more organic soon.”
Very good indeed.
