If you’re having trouble in this area you might want to invite Cara of The Household Helper over.
Seriously, I am getting addicted to this show already.
In this show Cara shared her 10 steps of Organizing. I love talking about decluttering. In fact, I think I could seriously have a business where I go into people’s homes and declutter their stuff. I am ruthless and don’t have a sentimental bone in my body. I think that clutter is the root of all evil. Ok, that’s a little harsh.
But honestly, I think clutter is at the heart of or contributes to many problems including: financial woes, headaches, fatigue, poor housekeeping, weight issues, etc.
So I really enjoyed this episode and will be sure to tune in more often. I liked that she mentioned to tackle the worst room first. FlyLady also says this. I think it’s important to use a timer and limit yourself to just 5-15 minutes a day in that worst room so you don’t get overwhelmed and give up.
One problem I have is that I like to organize and declutter more than I like to clean. I was having lunch with a friend of mine the other day and she is the opposite – her house is messy and cluttered but sanitary. My house is neat and uncluttered but my shower needs a good scrub. Maybe she and I could trade places one day a week.
