The Sneaky Chef Cookbook
The Sneaky Chef: Simple Strategies for Hiding Healthy Foods in Kids’ Favorite Meals
Rating: 7
Description: A simple guide with recipes included that will help you make sure your children and other family members are eating not only their vegetables but other healthy foods too.
Review: Trying to get my children to eat anything that is good for them is almost impossible. If it doesn’t say microwave, fast food or chocolate on it they think it’s terrible before they even try it. This can become very frustrating for a mother who is trying to not only give their child a healthy life but teaching them that there are much better things in life then simple and sweet.
This book helped me a lot with my plight. Some of these ideas have worked wonders in my kitchen. My children and my husband are eating healthier and they are eating foods they never would have looked at, let alone, tasted before.
The recipes are pretty good too. I love to cook and I’m always trying something new. My family is used to that but for the most part I end up throwing a lot of good food away because they just won’t try it. Not anymore. I can give them things like meatloaf and baked ziti and they eat it right up.
I haven’t stopped giving them things they enjoy too. With this book you will find that you can make things like chocolate chip cookies and even brownies that are healthy for your children. Of course that’s always their favorites but with this new book have also come some new rules. No sweets until they clean up their plate. That is not a problem anymore because they eat everything served to them and are ready for their dessert. Don’t get me wrong not everything in this book works. I’ve found a few things my family just won’t eat, but that’s ok. They are on the right track and that’s all I ever asked for.
Criticism: One thing I don’t like is there are no pictures with the recipes. I like to see a picture of what I’m making before I make it. Not a big deal but would be a nice addition.
Also I don’t agree with the sneaking technique. My kitchen is the hub of my home. All my family gathers there most of the time. So when I cook they know what’s coming. Believe it or not by letting them help puree vegetables and fruits and make some of the other items they are aware of what’s being put in their food. They still eat it and that’s what really counts.
