I never used gripe water with my kids, but I wish I had known about it with my first. He was a fussy little thing, and I didn’t know how to burp him properly. He was a tad on the gassy side.
Gripe water must be a nice product to have on hand for fussy babies, because several of our product reviewers wrote in about it.
Candace of Mauldin, SC said about Babys Bliss Gripe Water:
“It works great for colic and hiccups! I used it with all three of my children. It’s made with natural fennel and ginger and doesn’t have a medicinal taste. My only dislike is that I can’t find it locally and have to order it online.”
Michel Detrick of Dansville, NY said about Gentle Care Gripe Water:
“Our 9th child was born 3 weeks early. She spit up alot and had very slow weight gain. After 9 months of constant spitting up, she started spitting up a bit of blood, which scarred me into action. After much research, I found that she has reflux, which is common is preemies. With research, I found natural products to help her body deal with the immaturity of her digestive system.
Gentle Care Gripe Water contains ginger, fennel, chamomile and sodium bicarbonate. The product can be given up to 6 times a day with the applicator, which is included. I started out by giving her a dose of 1/2 tsp every 2-4 hrs. Now after 2 months of use, she gets a dose when I notice she is “refluxing.” I can tell she needs a dose when she is swallowing alot, or coughing and choking when she is not nursing. She has gone days without needing any supplementation.
I like the fact that the product is truly natural, no side effects, no preservatives, and is an easily affordable, safe means of taking care of reflux.”
Gripe water can be purchased at Amazon and many other online sites for under $10.
