Name of Product: Nature’s Gate Herbal Daily Shampoo and Conditioner
Description of Product: An herbal shampoo and conditioner suitable for daily use.
What do you like about the product?: It gets my hair clean.
What do you dislike about it (if applicable)?: I was really disappointed with my recent purchase of Nature’s Gate Daily Cleansing Shampoo and Conditioner. I have to admit- it does get my hair clean and manageable.
But I must have been in a hurry when I bought it, because I did not smell it before buying it, and it turns out that I cannot stand the smell of this product. It figures; the one time I do not test smell my shampoo, it smells awful.
Actually, the scent of the shampoo is somewhat tolerable for me, but the conditioner has a really strong scent that sticks in my hair for days. Another big problem I have with this shampoo and conditioner is with some of the ingredients. I recently learned that many commonly used preservatives and ingredients in cosmetic products can be downright harmful to humans! Some of these, such as imidazolidinyl urea, release formaldehyde in temperatures over 50 degrees Fahrenheit (how warm is it in YOUR bathroom?!) and parabens are known to mimic the body’s own estrogen and can cause damage to the male reproductive system at levels below the accepted daily intake! Not only that, parabens can make your skin look older by diminishing skin tone and accelerating the formation of wrinkles and age spots.
Nature’s Gate products contain both of these offending preservatives! I once thought that Nature’s Gate was a good natural product at a reasonable price, but I do not think I will be buying it again.
