My daughter doesn't need much encouragement to read (we're a bookworm kind of family), but it's fun for her to be able to make connections between different activities that she does and to talk about the differences between media. (What gets left out -- or added to -- the story? Does the character in the movie look anything like she imagined it?) Not to mention that as a mom I like characters who dare to be different! What a great message to teach a kid, with all the pressure they get to fit in. I love book/movie combinations for kids. It is such a great book for a child who has struggles to overcome---really inspiring to him that he can be everything he dreams of being---and even more. We haven't seen the movie yet---we've wanted to but just haven't had the time. We'd love to have this in our home collection!
