Third Hand Smoke and a Barter Opportunity

January 15, 2009

This report on the hazards of “third hand” cigarette smoke has me concerned. humo...

I live in an old house that has been renovated into a duplex, with an upstairs and a downstairs apartment. The kids and I live in the upstairs unit.

This arrangement has its perks. For instance, I have only had to turn on the central heat a handful of times this winter, because the heat from my downstairs neighbor rises to my apartment and warms the place considerably.

But there’s bad news.

Many nights we have to put up with the smell of cigarette smoke wafting up into my room.

I don’t smell the odor from any other part of the house, just my bedroom, so I’m thinking that the smoker in the family that lives downstairs must smoke at night with the door closed, in their bedroom, which happens to be right below mine.

This won’t do.

My youngest daughter sleeps in the bed with me and so is being exposed to this, and I am not having it.

So I’m looking for someone who knows about air purifiers.

I am offering a SUPER SWEET barter deal for advertising on this site to someone who will let me use (and publish a review across my network of sites) an air cleaner. I promise you it will be an extremely generous offer on my end (and a likely tax write off on yours!).

If you know anyone, would you send them to this blog post please? Thanks so much. And if you’re the person, contact me directly at clauth@gmail.com

Me, my kids and our collective lungs all thank you muchly. :)

What a wonderful idea Carrie, I hope you get an offer. I too can’t stand third hand smoke and I’ve lived and continue to live with them for all my life *sigh* it’s a wonder I’m not already sick by now. I get a terrible migraine just smelling that stuff.

Gosh, Carrie, that is just terrible! I too hope you will get an air purifier soon. Also better make sure you have enough smoke detectors. Smoking in the bedroom – what a fire hazard!

Got something to say?
