If you’re like me, you’re concerned about conflicting reports as to the safety of conventional sunscreens.
None of us wants to go back to the days of pool fun or beach=sunburn (the way it was for most of us as kids and also for previous generations). But studies that link cancer with sunscreen use are also a source of worry.
While the scientists figure it all out, my plan for the last few years has been to use only natural sunscreen products. These are mineral based (zinc and titanium), and work by a physical, not chemical reaction to “scatter” the sun’s rays and prevent sunburn.
A trio of products from Episencial crossed my desk and I am happy to give them a glowing review. I thought I would have to wait until my trip to the beach this summer, but as it turned out I had a chance to test these recently. 
When the kids and I spent an entire late morning/early afternoon tilling up soil in preparation for our garden, I slathered the “Sunny SPF 35 Sunscreen” on the baby.
It contains lovely organic ingredients like shea butter (probably why it smells heavenly!), beeswax and avocado oil to nourish tender baby skin.
It’s also water resistant, which I know must be true because it took a good scrubbing with a washcloth in the bath to get it out of her hair.
Not only did she smell amazing, but her skin was just fine with no burn, even though she was in bright sun for several hours.
Due to my sloppy application, it got in her eyes just a little but didn’t seem to bother her a bit.
