likes and dislikes: Simple Green multi-purpose cleaner is cost effective (a one gallon jug of the concentrate costs approximately eight dollars), it has a good, green, clean smell, it does a great job with tough laundry stains, including cloth diapers, when paired with washing soda – NOT baking soda — which is also inexpensive.
Simple Green is biodegradable, environmentally friendly, and a good surface cleaner for bathrooms, counter tops, mirrors, it’s safe around children and pets.
I keep some Simple Green mixed with water in a spray bottle to use as an air deodorizer, to spot treat carpet stains and odors that tend to get trapped in fabrics and spills on furniture. I’ve found that it’s safe to use on even delicate fabrics and that it doesn’t fade or cause any damage to them even with long term exposure (e.g., when soaking).
It also comes in handy for my kids to help clean around the house and help out with their chores. For the dishwasher, I mix Simple Green and baking soda with vinegar in the rinse cycle. The only drawback I’ve come across so far is that while you can find lots of studies on the Sunshine Makers website (manufacturers of Simple Green) testifying to the safety and non-toxicity of Simple Green, you can’t find an exact ingredient list.
