It’s Not About the Chocolate

Yesterday the ladies at Moms Morning Show reminded their listeners about the Blogging for Chocolate contest.

It’s pretty obvious that I’m participating in this! I have over 20 posts on this and other blogs so far that will count towards my total “entry”.

I love contests like this. Whether it’s a contest hosted by an affiliate manager for a product I promote or a blog “post the most” contest like this…it’s not about the chocolate. And it’s not about the prize - almost always.

It’s about pushing the limits of my productivity. It’s about pushing the limits of what I’m capable of. And it’s about my blogability. :-)

Doing contests like this one benefit ME far more than the person who is planning the contest. (You’ll notice that each of my Blogging for Chocolate posts links to one of the Moms Talk Radio shows AND the Moms Talk Radio site itself.)

Why?

Because of all the content I’ve created, from scratch! I’m going to get hundreds, maybe thousands of new visitors to this site and blog over the next few months because of the 20+ new pages I’ve created here. People are going to find this site because of that activity, because those pages will get indexed in search engines, and because other bloggers will link to me.

That’s why I like to do contests. It’s not about the chocolate. It’s about pushing myself to greater heights. :)
